Kathryn Faughey was a professional, dedicated, and loving psychologist who did everything to help her patients. She knew from an early age that she wanted to help people and she worked hard to be the best she could be for her patients.
She was in a loving childless marriage and had adoring siblings, who loved to see her thrive. Then, one night as she was working late at her psychology practice in New York City, a man walked in with bags and a motive. He was there to do something horrendous and he wasn’t about to let anyone stand in his way.
Before the night was over, Dr. Kathryn Faughey would be the victim of a brutal crime, a crime that would shock both New York City and the world of practicing psychologists. How could someone simply walk into a psychologist’s office, open up a bag full of weapons and then kill her?
The man who had walked into her office that night would leave behind plenty of forensic evidence and with the help of video surveillance, he was captured quickly. But investigators would be surprised to hear why he decided to walk into that practice that night and kill Dr. Kathryn Faughey with a meat cleaver.
This killing is one that has started conversations about how professionals work with patients in private settings, including home offices. This is an important case to highlight for psychologists and practicing doctors.
